On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo recap the first week of Steelers training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe.
They explain why coach Mike Tomlin's defense has been looking solid. From veteran additions like Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay Jr. To young players like Payton Wilson and first-round NFL draft pick Derrick Harmon. To returning stars like Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt. They also point out that Aaron Rodgers and the offense have been working out numerous issues, as the QB tries to get on the same page as playmakers like Jaylen Warren, DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Pat Freiermuth and Roman Wilson.
Later, the guys look ahead to Week 2 of camp, which will include padded practices for the first time. Which matchups are they excited to see in backs-on-backer drills? Why is Tomlin excited to see Wilson and Kenneth Gainwell match up?
Then in the third segment, Chris and Ray explain why Ramsey is the player who's most impressed them during Week 1.
