Can Steelers cure fan NIHILISM about Mike Tomlin, Art Rooney II with a strong NFL offseason?

Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey joins host Adam Bittner to analyze discontent in the Steelers fan base over coach Mike Tomlin, owner Art Rooney II and the franchise's recent drought of NFL playoff wins.

Do any moves GM Omar Khan could make this offseason matter as long as Tomlin is the coach and Rooney is the owner? Or will the franchise be doomed until big changes are made? And if there's hope, what moves could Khan make in NFL free agency, the NFL draft or the trade market to improve the mood of the fan base? Is it a splash at quarterback with options including Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers? A move for a big-time receiver opposite George Pickens? A new anchor for the defensive line? Or a proven cornerback opposite Joey Porter Jr.?

Our duo ponders those questions, then pivots to Penguins. What's the most disappointing piece of their performance coming out of the break for the 4 Nations Face-off? Is it the goaltending with Joel Blomqvist and Alex Nedeljkovic? Struggling defensemen like Erik Karlsson? Or simply the effort level surrounding stars like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang?

Then in the third segment, airing on the new PG Pirates YouTube channel, Adam and Jason toss around some Pirates topics. Would it make sense to sign free agent first baseman Anthony Rizzo, given the team’s need at that position following the Spencer Horwitz injury? Or is Rizzo and other free agent options like Jose Abreu or Yuli Gurriel too far past their prime? What does Jason think of the Andrew Heaney signing? And what does it mean for the depth of the rotation? Could the Pirates get creative to try to limit innings for Paul Skenes, Jared Jones and Mitch Keller?
