“So let’s test the theory. Let’s use Jim the car guy because he seems to me to be one of the most relatable. This is a guy that was fairly successful in business and did not start drinking much, let alone seriously, until later in life. But when he started, he didn’t stop, and he lost his dealership due to his drinking. So he found himself having to go to work for the dealership he once owned. How many of you did really well in the business world or in whatever your career field was? But then, as your addiction took on greater proportions, you found yourself having to take lesser and lesser jobs just to get by?”
Joe discusses how addiction can turn lives upside down, pushing individuals from positions of success to struggling just to get by. The session highlights the importance of addressing addiction early and the power of recovery in rebuilding one’s life.
