Joe recounts, “So then he says gradually things got worse. You want to hear how he describes gradually? You got to get inside of his experience here. The house was taken over by the mortgage holder. And it takes months. How many of you got thrown out? It takes a while. You gotta ignore it. You break through the pass lock a few times. Any of you ever just break the lock box off the thing? No lock box breakers? It takes a while. My mother-in-law died and my wife and father-in-law became ill. So everything’s crashing around him and he’s considering it a gradual experience. Can you relate?”
Joe’s discussion sheds light on the relentless inner turmoil faced by those in the grips of addiction while offering a message of hope and the possibility of transformation through the 12-step recovery process.
