Addressing past behaviors and their impacts is a delicate aspect of recovery, especially when it comes to financial harm caused by addiction. In this session, we discuss the importance of taking responsibility for our actions during our struggles with addiction, particularly when those actions have directly affected others financially. It’s essential to offer explanations and amends to those affected, acknowledging the real consequences of our past behaviors. However, this video also explores the need for discretion in whom we choose to disclose our recovery journey to. Not everyone needs to know the details of our past struggles, especially if we are no longer presenting ourselves in that manner. We’ll dive into strategies for balancing honesty with privacy, ensuring that our disclosures are appropriate and constructive, not just cathartic.
