Joe addresses a key realization: “Most alcoholics owe money. Now, just by a show of hands, did anyone get to recovery without owing money? None of us get here on a winning streak. How many of you didn’t think you owed money until you did your list in Step 4? You thought they wanted your money, didn’t you? And you found out it was their money they wanted.”
This session focuses on the importance of confronting financial amends directly and honestly, without dodging creditors or hiding behind past behaviors. Acknowledging and addressing these debts is a crucial part of the recovery process, as Joe explains, “We make no bones about our drinking. They usually know it anyway, whether we think so or not.”
