In this session, Joe discusses the natural human reactions to spirituality and the importance of overcoming personal prejudices. “Your world gets pretty small if you don’t like anyone like you because pretty soon you’ll be with just you, and you ain’t going to be happy there either. So the reality is we’ve all had that. This is a human thing. So many of us have been so touchy that even casual reference to spiritual things made us bristle with antagonism.”
Joe emphasizes the significance of approaching others with the same understanding and kindness we wish to receive. “It’s natural for people to bristle because of their own prejudice, so I’ve got to find a way in the spirit to approach them the way I would like to be approached if the role was reversed. I don’t get sent to anyone by accident. It’s my judgment of the situation that gets in the way of our collective wellness.”
