“Okay, but his face falls when we speak of spiritual matters, especially when we mention God. For we’ve reopened a subject which our man thought he had neatly evaded or entirely ignored. It’s a travesty that we shy away from describing what this experience is because someone’s going to be offended at a word. That means that I care so little about you and your family that I’m willing to let you die over a silly prejudice. And I am not. So I’m going to talk to you about this power in the most inoffensive way I can. And I’m going to share it with you so passionately at a minimum you’re going to be curious how a crazy son of a bitch like that can be that excited all these years later.”
Joe’s discussion sheds light on the journey of accepting a higher power while offering a message of hope and the possibility of transformation through the 12-step recovery process.
