“I don’t tell them how that was accomplished. Why? Because if the truth were told, I have no earthly idea how that was accomplished. Anybody here? Anyone like me? Used every day, no matter what. Got arrested, got thrown down, overdosed, tied up, came to out of a coma. Any of you? Who am I talking to? Where’s my peeps? Then one day, pow, that never happened again. Now, what in that says what Joe did to do that? It’s above my pay grade to talk about how that was accomplished. I can tell you all about who accomplished it. Does that make sense? And that’s my job, but I’m going to need them to ask me before I hit them with that kind of power.”
Joe highlights the importance of recognizing the true source of recovery and the humility needed to share this power with others. His insights remind us that the transformation in recovery is not something we control but something we experience through the grace of a higher power.
