Hit-and-Run Turns Fatal in Salem: Driver Arrested on Manslaughter and DUII Charges
A tragic hit-and-run incident in northeast Salem resulted in a fatality and an arrest. A white Mercedes SUV, driven by Romel Villarreal, lost control and collided with a Ford Mustang, killing the driver, Daniel Lewis, and injuring his passenger. Villarreal, also injured, was later apprehended and charged with second-degree manslaughter, third-degree assault, DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangering, and failure to perform driver duties after a crash.
