Emily King, a resilient nine-year-old from Sanford, has overcome significant health challenges to thrive as a competition cheerleader and third grader. Born with interstitial lung disease, she underwent two double lung transplants at ages two and seven. Despite facing rejection and months on the waiting list, Emilys family, including her parents and brothers, has received immense support from their community. Stephanie King, Emilys mother and a first-grade teacher, has been honored by New England Donor Services for her volunteer work and the schools backing of Emilys family. Thanks to generous donors and community support, Emily is back to cheering and living a full life, embodying resilience and kindness.
