Jason Scott Lee joins Popcorn Podcast to talk passion project The Wind and The Reckoning (aka The Reckoning), Hawaii's first native language film to receive a wide release. The movie, inspired by real events, follows the rebellion of a small group of Native Hawaiians as they courageously resist government-mandated exile during an outbreak of leprosy in 19th-century colonial Hawaii. In our chat, Lee (Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Mulan) shares more about this story of resilience and cultural identity, and what it means for Hawaiian people; what it was like filming a movie about a pandemic during an actual pandemic; and the groundbreaking film that still blows his mind.
