It Was The Farce Before Christmas
On this episode of Politics Nation, millions of federal employees will be able to observe Christmas with the comfort of an open government, after congress narrowly avoided a government shutdown late Friday. Leading up to that breakthrough was a series of public battles among republicans pointing to a very chaotic next congress. The condemnations of billionaire Elon Musk seemed to carry as much weight with GOP lawmakers as President-elect Donald Trump. After whipping up the votes to fund our government over the objections of Trump and Musk, Mike Johnson may become the next republican speaker to be axed when congress returns from recess in January. South Carolina democrat James E. Clyburn joins the show to discuss the current speaker’s fate and the waning influence of the president-elect. Plus, Tony-Award winning actor and co-director of the brand new Broadway play “A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical” James Monroe Iglehart joins the show later.
