As of today, the FBI has still filed no charges and has not officially named a suspect. The investigation remains open and ongoing. Yet, thanks to a trove of public, but hidden, family court documents, a chilling narrative has emerged. We have a death certificate that calls Anna Kepner’s death a homicide by "mechanical asphyxia." We have sworn court filings from a mother and a father both identifying their own 16-year-old son as a suspect in that death. And we have a family so broken that the boy at the center of it all is living with relatives, while his parents fight over what remains.
