#69a - OurDailyPodcast: Greg Tepper Doesn't Hate Baylor
Mark and Peter are joined by the Managing Editor of Dave Campbell's Texas Football, Greg Tepper. The recording was so much fun that we went kinda long, so this is Part I of two episodes featuring Tepper. Enjoy!
#68 - OurDailyPodcast: Spring Game Recap
We're breaking down Friday Night Lights, the Baylor Football spring game in this episode! Here are some of the topics: QB situation: Who's the starter? Who's going to be the #2? WRs: The Four Horsemen Ascendant Defensive Line: How it's shaping up in Oakman's absence Secondary: Are we improving? Much, much more!
#67 - OurDailyPodcast: Looking Back, Looking Ahead
It's been about three weeks since we last brought you a podcast. Of course, we'd just come off a monstrous win at Morgantown, then dropped two straight to Kansas and Oklahoma State. Naturally, the podcast was blamed for this outcome. BUT, then the Bears ripped off four straight wins before dropping Monday's game against Texas. You can't blame us for that one. But, this is our solemn vow to you: If we lose on Friday night, we will never, ever do another basketball podcast. Here's what we're talking about Recap of the past few weeks The historic win in Ames Another dominating performance against West Virginia A bit about Texas and that throwdown. Looking forward to Texas Tech, the rest of the weekend, and what those games mean for the Big 12 Tournament seeding.
#66 - OurDailyPodcast: Scott Drew Is Going To Live Forever
We're back with another episode! Fankhauser rejoins us this week in the wake of National Signing Day and one of the most dominant road wins of the Scott Drew era. Fank's going to be a regular fixture on the podcast for the remainder of basketball season, and we're thrilled to have him Aftermath of National Signing Day We're talking about the aftermath of National Signing Day, recognizing just how absurd the "event" has gotten, fully realizing that we are part of the problem, but that there's nothing much to be done about it. Plus, Mike Gundy threw gas on the whole don't-tweet-at-recruits fire last week when he said the following: This year, people are back to flipping. There were a lot of guys changing their minds and changing schools. I think the reason for that is because of the internet...I think the fans play a role in that, because they can contact the recruits. I think they’re a huge impact in recruiting now, whether we as coaches (believe that or not). These fans who are contacting these players can affect the way they think. You never know why kids do what they do, but I’m convinced, in some of the ones we were involved in this year, they were affected be people who contacted them on their Twitter account. (hit that link for the full quote) Yeahhhhh... Probably not the best way to shut that down. Every fan base thinks that theirs is the only team that does things right and everyone else cheats or is the shadiest team ever. We talk about it briefly, but I must say that for the most part, I was pleased with how the majority of Baylor fans handled themselves this recruiting cycle, most significantly with Chad President in the wake of Jarrett Stidham committing and his moving to Tulsa. Baylor fans were largely supportive, and the combination of Coach Phil Montgomery and President at Tulsa means the Golden Hurricane won quite a few new fans in Baylor supporters. Next we're talking about the coaching carousel and its relationship to National Signing Day. This is an interesting point Mark brings up that is fascinating and I won't spoil it, but it's an interesting problem, and we think that there's a fairly easy solution that won't ever happen. Give it a listen. I will say this... A global Bobby Petrino clause is something sorely needed. Basketball Time! The past few weeks have completely altered the expectations and outlook of this team. While the Bears have been incredible at home (Fank points out that a one-point loss to Kansas at home is all that is between us and an 18-game winning streak at home), they've struggled on the road until the past couple of weeks, culminating with Saturday's dominant win over West Virginia in Morgantown. Baylor was able to get past the Mountaineer full court press, controlling the game and preventing West Virginia from ever closing the lead to less than 14 points. Every time the Mountaineers looked like they might make a run and make the game tighter, the Bears were able to answer and rebuild the lead. Part of what has been so impressive about this season has been the defense. Scott Drew teams have always been knocked for their lack of defense, but it seems like this squad's foundation is the defense, and the offense is only really starting to mature at this stage of the season. That's gone a good bit of distance to silencing the Scott Drew critics. Plus, this latest win is another testament to his coaching, since the only way you beat a full-game full court press like the one WVU employs is through superior coaching. It's been most impressive. Since the run last spring, the Drew detractors are becoming quieter and quieter. We here at ODB are enormous supporters of Scott Drew and hope he stays as long as he can. It is known. What's more, this team seems to be gelling as a squad and truly operating as a team, not relying on one star for the majority of its buckets. There isn't a player that we look at and say "As Player X goes, so goes the team." That is very exciting to watch. We do talk about the development of Taurean Prince as well as the absolutely dominant season Rico Gathers is putting up on the boards. My favorite stat: Gathers has 287 rebounds in 29.1 minutes/game, coming out to 17.1 rebounds per 40 minutes. That's a pretty decent clip. Tonight the Bears play Oklahoma State at the Ferrell. GO. GO TO THIS GAME. Thanks. That is all. Almost. Mark has a special message towards the end.
#65 - OurDailyPodcast: The Crackpots and These Women
First things first: Lewis Franklin (brolewis here and on Twitter) and I laid this audio down in the wake of the Texas game nearly two weeks ago. I apologize for that. I was intending to try and edit it while out on vacation, but I underestimated the amount of time and energy I'd have while being active all day and then tending to two children under the age of 4 afterwards. Right after getting home last weekend I was waylaid by illness, so I didn't get to finish editing until today. I'm sorry about that. At any rate, Lewis was kind enough to join me on the podcast to talk a little bit about the Baylor Women's basketball team, their recent successes, the expectations of this team both heading into the season and where they stand right now. Despite losing two of the most prolific players in the game in consecutive seasons, the women currently sit atop the Big 12 with an 18-1 record and are the #3 ranked team in the nation by both polls. A huge thanks to Brother Lewis for doing this, our very first podcast dedicated to Women's Basketball! I'm thinking we'll probably do another one as the NCAA tournament approaches, so be on the lookout for that! Feedback Appreciated! With football offseason in full swing, we'll most likely be ramping up some Basketball podcasts in the coming weeks to get you ready for the end of the Big 12 season, the Big 12 Tournament, and the NCAA tournament. Like I said, we'll probably do another podcast dedicated to the women also. National Signing Day is this week, so I imagine that Mark, Prashanth and I will break that down at some point. Spring football will provide some topics, but if there's anything Baylor-related that you'd like to see on the podcast, I'd greatly appreciate your suggestions. The offseason is dark and full of terrors, but we're striving to get you through it and keep your ears entertained throughout. If you have suggestions, please leave them in the comments, tweet them to me, or leave me feedback at OurDailyPodcast(at)gmail(dot)com. Thanks folks!
#64 - OurDailyPodcast: Cotton Bowl, Coaching, & Cruitin'
Well, we're back. It didn't quite take us a month to get back to podcasting after the Cotton Bowl, thank goodness. Truthfully, schedule conflicts ended up being the issue more than the "hangover" from the Cotton Bowl. But we're back now, and we're ready to bring some joy back to your ear holes. Cotton Bowl Aftermath Before you turn off the podcast, were NOT doing a full recap of the game. We're not going to be Debbie Downers. We're actually talking about some of our favorite moments. You shouldn't be afraid to listen to this part. If the loss still stings, take a listen. We're surprisingly upbeat about what happened in the game. Kendal Briles is going to be a great OC and fantastic play caller. K.D. Cannon had an otherworldly game against a fantastic defensive back. Jay Lee throwing a fantastic WR pass for a touchdown. Bryce Petty having an absolute gem of a game and setting a Cotton Bowl Record. There was plenty of really fun stuff that happened in that game, despite the outcome, and it's worth celebrating. This is out of order, but it's so good that it has to go last in this paragraph, and two words will sum it up. LaQuan McGowan. That is all. Plus, the aftermath hasn't produced the narratives about how far off we are that we expected after that loss. That's very good news, and should be cause for optimism. There hasn't been a Preseason poll released where Baylor's not at least Top 7 at this point. While most consider the "way-too-early" preseason polls as meaningless (and for what to expect from a team, they generally are), they do tell you how your program is viewed, and Baylor is rising in the estimation of most folks. That's very exciting. Cris Dishman Hire & Coaching Changes We're also talking about the hire of Cris Dishman as the Safeties Coach who will replace Brian Norwood. We're all very excited about the hire... He's got NFL chops, which is something new for our defensive staff, and we're all looking forward to seeing what he can do. If you haven't been paying attention the past few days, it appears that they're already putting him out on the recruiting trail and is making an immediate impact in that arena. It's very exciting to see. We also talk a bit about Kendal Briles' move to OC and play caller, and the fact that we were so wrong about trick plays in the Cotton Bowl. We're happy to be wrong there, because that was fun. Aside: Thank God that Chris Callahan is still alive. Recruiting Updates We're in the home stretch of the 2015 Recruiting Class Season with National Signing Day, so we're looking into what's left to pursue, plus we're looking at some of recruits that have committed to Baylor in the past couple of weeks. Buckle up, folks, it's going to be a very wild ride. Specifically, we're spending some time on Eric Ogor, his ability, and why it appears that he's been lightly recruited. If he adapts to the collegiate level, the Bears could have a real gem there. And he's got one of the best names in recent memory. Yeah, we go back into the 3-star vs. 4/5-star debate. There's more talk here, and Pras asks the most speculative question you've ever heard on the podcast. Zomg Basketball We sorta trip over ourselves into some basketball talk. I will say this. We. Love. Scott Drew. There's more basketball coming on the podcast! Very exciting!
#63 - OurDailyPodcast: Spider Y-2 Banana, The Cotton Bowl Preview
It's time. It's almost here. The 2015 Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic is almost upon us, and we're ready to talk about it! Mark, Peter and (eventually) Prashanth put their heads together to preview this massive game, which just might be, once again, the biggest game in Baylor Football history. Prashanth joins us a few minutes late because of a certification exam or something that he had to take. But he's bringing his usual brand of analytical genius, and the podcast is better for it. Here's what we're talking about! The Big 12 had a very bad day. A very. Bad. Day. Strange bowl scheduling preferences The issue of motivation in Bowl games. Who's primed for a statement? Who's primed for a letdown? Michigan State is a really good football team and how that impacts readiness and preparation Michigan State's motivations Does Narduzzi taking the Pitt job have any impact on the Spartans defense? What about Montgomery and the Baylor offense? Pras Joins Us At Long Last Pras is excited about actually getting to go to a game. He got crazy good seats for on the cheap. Peter does not have club seats. Mark does not have seats and that is sad. We go off the rails for just a bit here. Sorry we're not sorry. Also: Live updates from the Texas game! Oh wait... We didn't broadcast this live. Rehashing some of the bowl stuff with Prashanth, because he has great takes and we love him. Bowls as litmus tests for conference strength and statement of future success Hey Look, We're Talking About The Cotton Bowl! The fascinating statistical oddity that is the Michigan State passing attack - how do we shut down Conner Cook and Tony Lippett? Michigan State's rushing attack with Jeremy Langford and how our defensive line will fare against it Is the Baylor defensive line the best that Michigan State has seen this season?* Mark's key matchup: Our offense against their defense Kendal Briles elevated to the Offensive Coordinator and calling the plays - does that impact anything? Direct Message to Blake Lynch How much do we want to see Antwan Goodley targeted? Who is the Spartans' No. 2 cornerback? Last game of the year, Brent, can't hold anything back Much, much more. *According the FootballOutsiders.com Defensive Line Stats, it's between Penn State and Baylor, with a slight edge to the Nittany Lions.
#62 - OurDailyPodcast: There's GOLD In Them Thar Hills!
Since the recording of this podcast, there's been some sad news in that Baylor Football lost a commit in Chad President. He'd been committed for almost a couple of years now, and we at Our Daily Bears are sad to see him go. We recorded this podcast about 16 hours too early, it would appear, but we were ready to get some audio laid down for you guys about some of the other happenings from recent days, plus get you some audio for your Christmas Eve travels, should you require it. One note about the audio: For some reason unknown to any of us, Mark's audio track had some clipping in it that makes it sound like I've edited out a word or two in a sloppy manner. We're not really sure what happened, but rest assured that it wasn't that Mark was overly vulgar and I was going crazy with the editing tools. What We're Talking About Jarrett Stidham committed to Baylor, and we're thrilled about it Possible scenarios with the quarterback situation (note: At one point in here Pras talks about being sad that someone in this group may not get to finish their Baylor experience; I was editing that portion of the show as the President news broke, and it struck me as prescient.) The aftermath and dark underbelly of recruiting fandom The great day the Big 12 had What's at stake with recruiting and how to respond to it The importance of high-value targets There's still more to come before National Signing Day. Let's Recap The Regular Season! ...sorta Prashanth's preseason prediction regarding Petty being a better QB overall, though not reflected on the stat sheet Did we see peak Goodley this season? Was he injured? Coleman's season vs. what we were expecting to see, especially in light of his preseason hamstring injury Offensive Line: The big surprise of the season, especially in light of the injuries experienced Looking back to look forward, plus some more recruiting talk! The "5-star vs. diamond-in-the-rough" debate Disappointments of the season (note: we went 11-1 and won our second straight Big 12 Championship. Any actual disappointment is extremely minor) Taylor Young is a sneaky blitzer The future, friends, is very bright. Whatever Shawn Oakman and Spencer Drango decide.
#61 - OurDailyPodcast: All the Fallout
We're talking about a TON of stuff, including: ESPN College GameDay, Kansas State vs. Baylor, A Second Big 12 Championship, The Big 12, The College Football Playoff. Plus much more!
#60 - OurDailyPodcast: Baylor Makes The Soul Happy
Podcast version of a live broadcast from ODB on December 4, 2014. We're talking ESPN College GameDay in Waco, the game against Kansas State, the College Football Playoff, and more. Enjoy!
#59 - OurDailyPodcast: They Are Coming To Our Citaaaaaaay
In case you haven't heard, ESPN College GameDay is coming to Waco on Saturday for the tilt against Kansas State. You know we're talking about that, and we do quite a bit to start. Mark, Prashanth and I are here to do just that as well as talk about surviving Texas Tech in Arlington over the weekend. Here's what we're talking about: College GameDay heading to Waco! And related topics The most on-the-nose cold open ever. Our reaction to the news, including outlook on how it affected our moods in the aftermath of the Tech game Note: Pras cut out at one point in here, but the way we record allowed me to salvage the point he makes. I left it in, then shifted to the conversation Mark and I had while he was gone. You may notice a somewhat abrupt conversation change from a conversation perspective. The rankings and our feelings towards them this week NOTE: Let's not go crazy with our engagement of the media this Signs, Signs, everywhere signs (more on that in a bit) - We're discussing the 61-58 sign and its prevalence. Recapping Texas Tech The tale of two games: With and without Bryce Petty and how his injury impacted both sides of the ball Tech was able to find matchups to exploit Resurfacing of the three-man front and the lack of designed blitz packages In which aspect of our offense/defense are we most confident "It's Tech's Bowl Game!" and how that actually impacted the play of the game Ryan Reid and his amazing forced turnover More Big 12 Ref fun and Rod Gilmore The two respective hits on the QBs Bryce Petty's injury and his status moving forward Backing up... GameDay Signs! We talked about it in the podcast, but someone mentioned that they're going to put up a fanpost for GameDay sign ideas. Since we're going to be doing a live preview show on Thursday night, we'll talk about those sign ideas, pick the best, and maybe put up a poll so that you can vote on the best ones. Bears, bring the wit. Let's do this big.
#58 - OurDailyPodcast: The Giant Foot
NOTE: This was recorded on Sunday night, but work prevented me from getting the podcast compiled and edited. Sorry about that. We're opening up by talking about the ridiculous weather during the game on Saturday night which, if you weren't there, was significantly worse than it appeared on TV. It rained intermittently during the first half and started truly raining right before half time and didn't stop raining for the rest of the game. The rain got heavier as the game went on. Pras was able to stay dry by watching the game from his couch. Mark and his wife got amazing rain suits that kept them dry, while I had more trouble because my $4 poncho ripped and the sole of my right boot fell off at about the first touchdown. That's right... Fell. Off. It was weird. Here's some of the topics we're talking about in this one: How the weather impacted the play on the field Mason Rudolph's performance (kid can ball out, y'all) Defensive game plan and execution against a new quarterback The lack of a conspiracy in the media to keep Baylor out of the conversation* Once again, it's not the holding of the Selection Committee, it's the reasoning that bothers us Mark and I have trouble differentiating between Indiana and Illinois THERE IS A GIANT FOOT TRYING TO SQUASH YOU I have a theory about what criteria the Selection Committee will use this week (I was wrong, but I think my theory makes more sense than what they actually used) Ryan Reid The best passing defense Baylor's beaten this year The true source of Auburn's run of luck last year and FSU's this year More! Happy Premise Number 1: There are no aliens. Happy Premise Number 2: There is no giant foot trying to squash me. Happy Premise Number 3: Even though I feel like I might ignite, I probably won't.-Eddie Murphy in Bowfinger I'm not so sure about HP#1... Jeff Long may just be an alien. HP#2 is absolutely false. But, HP#3... that one's pretty true. The entire Baylor fan base probably feels like they'll ignite right about now.
#57 - OurDailyPodcast: Gotta Stay Hydrated or, A Sort-of Preview of Oklahoma State
#56 - OurDailyPodcast: Nick Pants, We Meet at Last
We hope you enjoy it!
#55 - OurDailyPodcast: Questions Answered!
Are all of our questions answered? not ALL of them, but many. Bryce Petty. The offensive line. The defense. So many questions, all of them answered. And suddenly, back in the hunt for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

#54 - OurDailyPodcast: Previewing the Sooners
Are you #ReadyForOU?

#53 - OurDailyPodcast: Andrew Billings is Ready For OU

#52 - OurDailyPodcast: Burn. It. All. Down.
Get it.

#51 - OurDailyPodcast: You Gotta Let It Go

#50 - OurDailyPodcast: Bryce, Get Them Points!
Oh my goodness, it's our second episode in a row with everybody being in their normal recording locations! It must be some kind of record or something! Or... not. Anyway, it's a good thing when we're all in our natural habitats. And we're pumped to talk about this week's massive game on the road against the West Virginia Mountaineers. First Things First In case you haven't been paying close attention for the past two years, you don't know that your Baylor Bears have a massive, and I mean MASSIVE, rivalry with West Virginia. Back in August, those well-known college football experts and historians at Southern Living Magazine asked their readers to tell them what their favorite college football rivalry was. Was it the Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn? Clemson vs. South Carolina? Florida vs. Florida State? Or Baylor vs. West Virginia? We at ODB agreed with Southern Living, and asked you, dear ODB Commentariat, to vote on which game in this rich, storied rivalry was your favorite. Nearly 200 of you responded by choosing from a vast array of two choices, electing the 2013 clash of these rivals as your favorite. We couldn't agree more. News Team, Assemble! Don't you love the News Team? We do, and it's been FAR too long since we trotted it out. Anyway, we're talking about the #StripeMcLane effort for Homecoming against Kansas and our excitement about it, as well as the Blackout against Oklahoma State on November 22. We've talked about it already on the blog, but we can't help ourselves, this is going to be really cool. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors. These are exciting things, people. Once more, because it's worth getting that image out again, here's the #StripeMcLane layout: Next up we're talking about the Student Bus packages for the game against the Oklahoma Sooners in November that students waited in line for over four hours to get these passes, and they sold out in a little over 1 hour 20 minutes. That's pretty impressive. We're talking about what it says that the students snatched up all of those bus passes in that amount of time in the context of building a big time program and football culture at Baylor. If you're a student and you weren't fortunate enough to get a ticket, you can still make the trip with your friends in your own vehicle. The more the merrier! We also segue a little bit into the level of excitement of the fan base as a whole, and we all agree: there's not a more excited fan base in the state of Texas right now (thank you, football team, for beating TCU and enabling us to say that). Previewing West Virginia We're breaking down this matchup in all sorts of interesting ways. Many of you have commented on it, and we concur: the single best way to slow down the West Virginia offense is to get to Clint Trickett early and often. If Shawn Oakman and the rest of the pass rushers can harry Trickett frequently in the early goings of this game, it's probable that he'll get off his game and won't be accurate in getting the ball to the man that is clearly their best player in Kevin White. We're also giving tremendous respect to Head Coach Dana Holgorsen because the man knows his stuff. We think that they'll try and counter that pressure by getting the ball out of Trickett's hands quickly and into the hands of their WRs and RBs (which they use in the passing game more frequently than Baylor does theirs, as Mark mentioned in the First Look post). Trickett is pretty good at doing that so it will be interesting to see how they do. Another key will be solid, fundamental tackling. For the perceived challenges in the secondary, Ryan Reid and Xavien Howard have been excellent in not giving up a ton of yards after the catch with solid fundamentals in tackling. BUT WAIT: This West Virginia team may be the best roster in terms of guys with excellent names. Rushel Shell. Wendell Smallwood, point guard for Hickory High School. Dreamius Smith. DaeJuan Funderburk. Dontrill Hyman. The list goes on. We realize that we didn't talk in great detail about our offense vs. their defense, but we got a bit of talk in there about it. We just had to move on for time purposes. Picks of the Week I'll fill these in at some point quick. Community Feedback! Thanks for sending in those questions, all you who did. With an open date looming after West Virginia, you can bet that we'll be reaching out to you all for more questions in the next week or so. Remember, you can send us questions to the podcast by emailing them at OurDailyPodcast(at)gmail(dot)com, tweeting at the podcast (linked below), asking Mark via email or Twitter, or calling That Good Ol' Baylor Phone Line at (774) 25-SICEM (774-257-4236). Podcasts are always better with listener interaction, and we covet yours! Lastly... Bryce Petty, you go get it. You pad those stats. We love it.

#49 - OurDailyPodcast: Chris Callahan, You Beautiful Man
Baylor overcame a 21-point deficit in the last 11 minutes of the game on Saturday to defeat the 9th ranked TCU Horned Frogs in Waco in front of a sold-out McLane Stadium. We're reacting to it and breaking it down for you. Enjoy!

#48 - OurDailyPodcast: Baylor vs. TCU Or, ODB vs. The Internets
This is, without a doubt, the worst podcast we've ever recorded. Largely owing to the fact that Peter's hotel Internet decided that it hated him. But, Mark and Prashanth soldier on and do their best to preview the TCU matchup that's coming on Saturday afternoon. Try to enjoy it, but we don't blame you if you don't.

#47 - OurDailyPodcast: Spencer Roth Saves The Day
Though the outcome seemed like it was in doubt early, your Baylor Bears ended up rolling over the University of Texas Longhorns 28-7 in what turned out to be an incredibly solid defensive game. Mark and Peter are talking about the game and about what turned out to be one of the craziest weekends in college football history. Come join us, won't you?

#34 - OurDailyPodcast: The Sweet Sixteen
The podcast couldn’t miss the opportunity to talk about this magical time of year. Peter is joined by Matt Isbear and Fankhauser to weigh in on all things March Madnessy. As you may or may not know, Mark was on Radio Wisconsin on Monday, so he was all audio’ed out by the time we recorded this. I looked for audio from it to link to the stream, but apparently the Wisconsin radio station recorded every hour of the show save the one in which Mark participated. Curses! Apologies for not getting this out quicker than today. Work exploded in my face yesterday and I got home last night and collapsed in a heap of complete and utter uselessness. Hopefully you’re able to enjoy the pod in advance of tomorrow’s excitement. The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year? Matt and David agree: This is the best time of the year from a sporting perspective. I can’t say that I fully disagree from a compacted, intensity point of view, but am a little more hesitant. What say you? Is this the most wonderful time of the year for sports? Talk about it in the contents. Tournament Talk! David, Matt, and I share our thoughts on the most surprising aspects of the tournament so far. There’s been a LOT of upsets this yea, but is that any different than any other year? Regardless, it’s made the tournament extremely exciting thus far. We also talk a bit about Baylor’s matchup vs. Nebraska, the crowd, the defense, and more. Baylor Crushes Creighton Baylor handles Creighton and its star performer, Doug McDermott in a massive way. Could there be a more perfectly executed game plan? We talk all about it. I could write about what we talked about, but then I’d leave you no reason to listen to the podcast. Wisconsin Of course, we talk more about Wisconsin to help prepare you for our Sweet Sixteen Matchup on Thursday. Get pumped. Community Feedback! MattyMattMatt put out the call on Twitter right before we recorded, and you all responded. We answer your questions and apologize to TinyArtBriles. Conner asks one of the more awkward questions the podcast has ever had. Also, Matt doesn’t want to put the horse before the cart. Matt likes his carts going first, dang it.

#29 - OurDailyPodcast: An Interview with Matt Sayman
Greetings ladies and gentlemen. In lieu of recording something extra on Christmas night, the intrepid Mattisbear took the initiative and sat down with Matt Sayman earlier this week. Matt is a Baylor alum and author of The Leftovers: Basketball, Baylor, Betrayal and Beyond. He was one of the few to stick around when Coach Scott Drew came to Baylor and started this incredible run. Matt sat down with... Matt for about half an hour of basketball talk. They cover the book and the events surrounding the coaching transition, adjusting to Coach Scott Drew's style, this year's team and an appearance he'll be making at an upcoming Baylor basketball game on January 11. You definitely don't want to miss this. If you haven't picked it up yet, The Leftovers is available on his website, theleftoversbook.com, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble. Definitely check it out, it's a great read and you'll fly through it. It would make a great late Christmas present!

#27 - OurDailyPodcast: Basketball on the Podcast!

#26 - OurDailyPodcast: Baylor Bears, Big 12 Champions
No clever title this week, just the white hot truth: The Baylor Bears are Big 12 Champs. That's right folks. It's finally edited. You watched it live, now listen to it… edited. Between uploading issues, show derailments and dog talk, this may have been the most difficult episode to edit. But it's done, and now ready for your enjoyment. Join Mark, Prashanth, Amy Pagitt and Peter (again) as we exult in the triumph of the Baylor Bears over the Texas Longhorns to clinch the first-ever Big 12 Championship and trip to a BCS Bowl Game. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll probably shake your head in disgust. It's all good. If you missed the original recording and have a deep, burning desire (you should probably get that checked out) to watch it again, you can check it out right here. Then you can come back and listen to the edited show. It's about a whole 15 minutes shorter! Wow! News Team, Assemble (live version)! THE BAYLOR BEARS ARE BIG 12 CHAMPIONS AND ARE GOING TO THE FIESTA BOWL. Is there anything else that's really newsworthy? I guess maybe one or two things. But THE BAYLOR BEARS ARE BIG 12 CHAMPIONS! (It's still really fun to type) Texas Recap Dominating performance by the defense, the offense wakes up, KJ gets a pick-six negated by a stupid, stupid call (as well as having another possible INT bounce off the back of his helmet. DOINK.), and much, much more. We get a little sidetracked, too. But that's not really anything new. Picks of the Week Prashanth is the man. Peter did pretty well, too. So did Mark. Amy picked Duke. Heh heh heh. Oh Amy. Bear Droppings You know the drill. It's calls. And you can still call That Good Ol' Baylor Phone Line! Do it!

#25 - OurDailyPodcast: A SLEUTH of Bears
Greetings, fellow ODBers. This may surprise and even delight you, but it's time for another episode of OurDailyPodcast. Please, contain your joy. Or don't, either way is fine by me. As long as your unrestrained joy is at minimum decibel levels. We can't have you going into the game on Saturday with even the hint of hoarseness. You're going to need your voice all day long. Before we get to the show notes, I want to make a special request that's also in the photo caption. Can we make sure that Fringe Monster is saved a spot on the front row of the stands after running the field? Fringe Monster certainly deserves to be front and center. Fringe Monster has become somewhat of a talisman, I feel. Let's make this happen, good people of Our Daily Bears. On to the Show Notes! News Team Assemble! You all know this, but students CRUSHED the ticket draw in less than 48 hours. It's a little sad that so many students won't be able to get into the game, but you have to remember that the South Endzone was sold out months ago. There will be onsite watch parties happening, so maybe there will be some way that some magic can happen. Don't forget about The Official ODB Meetup! Check out the link for the details and location. It's going to be fun. Can somebody bring name tags? A little bit of Podcast news! Amy Pagitt will join us Sunday for a special episode. Listen to the pod for more details! Let's Talk Texas And I'm not talking about the state. We can all agree that the state of Texas is the greatest state. No, we're talking about the big game this weekend, and everything you could possibly want to know about it! Offense! Defense! Weather! HOW WILL TEXAS BE ABLE TO STAND THIS WEATHER WHEN THEY'RE SO FAR SOUTH OF WACO AND COMPLETELY NOT USED TO PLAYING IN THESE CONDITIONS LIKE THE BEARS ARE? These are the burning questions that we struggle with and attempt, to the best of our ability, to answer. Picks of the Week! Lots of picks of the week this week, though only two Big 12 slate games Since Lil' Amy P is going to be joining us on Sunday, her picks are included! Special Audio! In honor of the very last game played at The Case and the last regular season preview episode for football season, I put together a little audio segment with the help of some of the friends of ODP*. I hope you enjoy it. Oh yeah, it also did produce the Google Voice Transcript of the Week, too: MattisBear: Hey guys, It's Matt, is there trying on working and I faxed in on Saturday. I don't see how we lose this one with emotion, implications on. And Don't go to work on longhorns. I said, we went by. 3 touchdowns and potentially wanted to feel well, one top of that give us and 4521 way fingers. *Kirobaito also sent in his prediction as yet another esteemed guest of the show; sadly, something happened with his audio message and his prediction cut out completely; I didn't realize it until it was too late to get him to resend his prediction. Sorry about that Kirobaito! Know that you are loved and appreciated all the same. Questions for ODBers Given my focus on getting the audio segment together and asking you guys to call in with your predictions, I completely forgot to ask for No Huddles and Community Feedback questions until very late. We did get a couple of questions, though, so we decided to pose them to you here! From @BaylorRising: Is the reason we are projected to not get an at large bid because of size, recentness of loss or brand? From @JohnJayMJr: I'm curious about other BU fans interactions w/ UT fans so far this week/year. So far for me, they've been incredibly nice & respectful. What about everyone else? Also, don't forget to stay tuned after the show for the predictions and calls of those who lent their voices to our efforts! To all who called That Good Ol' Baylor Phone Line, thank you very much!

#24 - OurDailyPodcast: Revivalry Revived
Greetings, friends, we're back in action a day later than normal but putting our signature spin on the weekend's events! Prashanth, Mark, and I are all back this week to talk some TCU recap, amazeballs student fan ticket draw, recap Peter's horrific odds laying skills in Picks of the week, listen to your Bear Droppings (in record numbers!), and much much more. News & Notes Bryce Petty Commits to Baylor! Oh wait, that doesn't sound right. Bryce Petty is coming back for his Senior Season! There, that's better. 6700+ student tickets were pulled in the first 7 hours that the tickets were made available. Students are TURNT! Gary Patterson said something about somebody, I think. We talk a little bit about that. (Bonus points for who can identify the drop I use in this segment) TCU Recap Lots of fun here. As hard as that game was to watch, there are really good points to take away from the game, and there are many positives to look at heading into Texas on Saturday. Picks of the Week Mark: 5-2 Fank: 3-4Prashanth: 3-4Peter: 2-5 Bear Droppings! Some seriously good calls this week, and in record number yet again! Thanks for sending those in. Remember, call That Good Ol' Baylor Phone Line at (774) 25-SICEM (257-4236) to leave us your questions, feedback, and Bear Droppings! Save that number to your phone. Then call us from The Case on Saturday. Or immediately thereafter, if you don't freeze. You know, it's all good. SPECIAL REQUEST! Since we are getting this show out a day later than normal, I'm going to go ahead and give my special request today so that you have a full 24 hours to respond. Here's what I'd like you to do: Between now and tomorrow afternoon, call That Good Ol' Baylor Phone Line at (774) 25-SICEM and leave us your game predictions on the line! Identify yourself (your name or your ODB screen name, or twitter, any of the above would work fine), give your prediction for the game and what bowl you want to see the Bears in (that's attainable). If you want to add in a clever prediction or something witty, that's fine too, but make sure to predict the game and the bowl. Can you guys do that for me? If enough call in and do that, I'll append your predictions onto the end of the show. If someone nails the score correctly, we might see about doing something fun. Thanks!

#23 - OurDailyPodcast: Gobble Gobble Gobble
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Happy Thanksgiving back. We recorded this on Tuesday night, but storage restrictions only enabled me to upload the pod this evening. At any rate, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. News & Notes There was some news, I'm pretty sure. I can't remember. TCU Preview We talk about TCU a bit, too. We talk about other stuff in this segment, but I'm pretty sure mostly it's all about TCU. Picks of the Week (picks of the weeeeeeek) Picks. Picks of the week. There are extra games in there, but I didn't bother to write them down. I'm a horrible person. Community Feedback We got to most of the questions you sent us, but not all of them. Sorry about that. We went kinda long, almost two hours of raw audio (which I got down to about an hour fifteen or so). You'll know what I'm talking about.
