We talk about how the audience must suspend their disbelief in the show's bombastic dialogue, and view the characters more like superheroes than real life political figures, to better tune into what it's trying to achieve. We also discuss the cycling between optimism and pessimism toward real world politics that affect that era's fictionalized representation of the white house.
