चतुरस्य कस्यचित् बालकस्य आलस्यकारणात् धनविद्यादीर्घायुष्यादीनि हस्तच्युतानि जातानि । कथं, कुत्र, किमर्थमिति ज्ञायते अनया कथया । तद्दिनस्य कार्याणि तद्दिने एव करणीयानि । श्वः अग्रे वा करिष्यामि इति चिन्तनमेव अनर्थस्य कारणम् इति अनया कथया ज्ञायते।

A clever person, due to laziness, lost wealth, knowledge, and long life, all of which slipped from his hands. Through this story, it is understood how, where, and why this happened. The tasks of the day must be completed on the same day. The thought of postponing things for tomorrow is the very cause of misfortune, as revealed by this story.
