देवः किं दृष्टः ?

कदाचित् गुरोः प्रवचनानन्तरं शिष्येण आनन्देन मया देवः दृष्टः इति कथिते अन्ये  शिष्याः हसन्ति । एवमेव बहुवारं प्रवृत्ते, एकस्मिन् दिने गुरुः वदति यत् - 'पुनः देवः दृश्यते चेत् गुरुत्वप्राप्तितः पूर्वं किं किं पापकार्यं कृतं मया इति त्वया प्रष्टव्यम् । तदा एव भवता देवः दृष्टः इत्येतत् प्रमाणितं भवेत्‘ इति । अनन्तरदिने तेन देवः दृष्टः इति निरूपितं भवति । तत् कथमिति जिज्ञासायां कथां शृण्वन्तु ।

Once, after the Guru’s lecture, when disciple Ananada said, 'I have seen God,' the other disciples laughed. This happened many times. One day, the Guru said, 'If you see God again, you must first ask me what sinful actions I have committed before attaining the state of a guru. Only then will it be confirmed that you have indeed seen God.' A few days later, it was confirmed that God had been seen. Now, listen to the story to understand how this happened.
