वचनानि कीदृशानि भवेयुः?

कदाचित् गुरुशिष्याणां मध्ये 'वचनानि कीदृशानि भवेयुः' इति सम्भाषणं प्रचलति । तदा गुरुः वदति 'यत् वचनं कमपि न व्यथयेत्, यतः श्रोतॄणां मनः विकसेत्, यत् वचनं स्नेहादिसद्भाववृद्ध्यै स्यात्, यस्य श्रवणात् सद्व्यक्तित्वम् अभिव्यज्येत तदेव वचनं नाम । तादृशानि एव वचनानि यस्य मुखात् सर्वदा निर्गच्छेयुः सः एव सम्भाषणं जानाति इत्यर्थः' । पुनः सः वायोः, आतपस्य, नद्याः च उदाहरणानि यच्छति । 'यस्य वचनानि मधुराणि, तस्य एव वशे भवति लोकः' इत्यपि वदति ।

Once, a discussion arose between a teacher and his disciples on the nature of ideal speech. The teacher explained, “True speech is that which does not hurt anyone, uplifts the listener’s mind, fosters love and goodwill, and reveals noble character. Only one whose words consistently reflect these qualities truly understands the art of communication.” He further illustrated this with examples from nature—like the wind, sunlight, and rivers—emphasizing their gentle yet powerful influence. Concluding, he said, “The one whose words are sweet wins over the world.”
