सङ्गः अपि विनाशस्य कारणं भवितुम् अर्हति इति अनया कथया ज्ञायते । आसीत् एकस्मिन् वनप्रदेशे मानसोल्लासः नाम ऋषिः यः सत्यवचनः परमकारुणिकः च । तस्य आश्रमे पशवः सर्वे पारस्परिकं वैरभावं विस्मृत्य मोदेन क्रीडन्ति स्म । गच्छता कालेन तस्य आसुरीप्रवृत्तिः उद्भूता । कथं केनोपायेन च इन्द्रेण एतत् सम्पादितम् इति स्वारस्यकरीं कथां शृण्मः ।
(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)
From this story, it is understood that attachment can also become a cause of destruction. There was a sage named Manasollasa in a certain forest area, who was truthful and extremely compassionate. In his ashrama, all the animals, forgetting their mutual enmity, played together joyfully. However, with time, his evil tendencies arose. Let us hear the story of how this was brought about, and how it was accomplished by Indra through some means, which led to his downfall.
