सा योग्यता

यद्यपि बहवः ऋषयः जनकमहाराजस्य आगमानात् पूर्वमेव आगच्छन्ति स्म तथापि महर्षिः याज्ञवल्क्यः  जनकमहाराजस्य अगमानानन्तरमेव उपदेशस्य आरम्भं करोति स्म । 'जनकमहाराजे अस्मासु अविद्यमाना का योग्यता अस्ति?’ इति ऋषीणां परस्परं वार्तालापः याज्ञवल्क्येन ज्ञातः । सः तेषां बोधनाय एकम् उपायं चिन्तितवान् ।  कदाचित् धर्मोपदेशसमये कश्चन वटुः आगत्य 'कुटीराणि अग्निना ज्वलन्ति अस्ति' इति यदा वदति तदा सर्वे ऋषयः धावित्वा स्वीयानि वस्तूनि आनीतवन्तः ।  किञ्चित्कालानन्तरम् यदा अन्यः कश्चन वटुः आगत्य 'मिथिलानगरे अग्निस्पर्शः जातः' इति अवदत् तदा महाराजः किञ्चिदपि विचलितः न अभवत् । अनेन उपायेन ऋषीणां राज्ञः च भेदः महर्षिणा दर्शितः ।

Despite many sages arriving before King Janaka, Sage Yajnavalkya started his discourse only after the king's arrival. Hearing the sages question Janaka's superiority, he devised a plan. During a discourse, a student ran in, claiming the huts were on fire, prompting the sages to rush for their belongings. Later, another student declared Mithila was ablaze, yet Janaka remained calm. Through this, Sage Yajnavalkya demonstrated the difference between the sages and the king - true detachment and unwavering equanimity in the face of adversity.
