भगवतः कार्ये हस्तक्षेपः

कश्चन कृषिकः महादेवभक्तः आसीत् । तस्य ज्येष्ठा पुत्री कृषिकाय, कनिष्ठा पुत्री कुम्भकाराय च दत्ता तेन । सः यदा ज्येष्ठपुत्र्याः गृहम् अगच्छत्, तदा पुत्र्या वृष्टेः प्रार्थनां कर्तुम् उक्तम् । तदनन्तरं सः कनिष्ठपुत्र्याः गृहम् गतवान् । कनिष्ठा तु पितरं वृष्टिः न भवेत् इति प्रार्थनां कर्तुं प्रार्थयति । तयोः अपेक्षयोः परस्परविरोधे सति सः कृषिकः गुरोः समीपं गत्वा मार्गम् अपृच्छत् । गुरुः तं लोकहितं मनसि निधाय प्रार्थनां कर्तुम् उपदिष्टवान् । ततः सः कृषिकः निष्कल्मषबुद्धया भगवन्तम् उद्दिश्य प्रार्थनां कृतवान् ।
(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)

Once there was a farmer who was a devotee of Lord Mahadev. He had given his elder daughter in marriage to a farmer, and his younger daughter to a potter. When he visited his elder daughter, she requested him to pray for rain. Later, when he visited his younger daughter, she requested him to pray that it does not rain. Faced with these contradictory requests, the farmer sought the advice of his Guru. The Guru, considering the welfare of everyone, instructed him to pray with a pure heart to the Lord. Following this advice, the farmer prayed to the Lord with a clear conscience.
