मम अनुत्तीर्णता भवितुं न अर्हति

कस्मिंश्चित् विद्यालये परीक्षापरिणामस्य घोषणस्य अनन्तरं कश्चन छात्रः उत्थाय 'मम परीक्षापरिणामः भवता न उक्तः' इति अवदत् । तदा शिक्षकः अवदत् 'त्वं ज्वरादिकारणम् उक्त्वा दीर्घकालं यावत् कक्ष्यायाम् अनुपस्थितः आसीः । अतः त्वम् अनुत्तीर्णः स्याः । तस्मात् एव आवल्यां तव नाम नास्ति' इति । 'मम अनुत्तीर्णता भवितुं न अर्हति, श्रीमन्' इति सः छात्रः आत्मविश्वासेन अवदत् । एवं वादः प्रतिवादः च प्राचलत् तयोः मध्ये । छात्रः यदा यदा उत्तीर्णताविषये वादम् अनुवर्तितवान् तदा तदा शिक्षकः तस्य दण्डं वर्धितवान् । तावता लिपिकारः आगत्य 'एतस्य छात्रस्य नाम प्रथमश्रेणीं प्राप्य उत्तीर्णानाम् आवल्याम् आसीत् । अनवधानात् अस्माभिः न लक्षितम्' इति अवदत् । आत्मविश्वासस्य खनी इव स्थितस्य बालकस्य नाम 'राजेन्द्रप्रसादः' यः भाविनि काले भारतस्य प्रथमराष्ट्रपतिः जातः ।

Whenever the student insisted on his success, the teacher increased his punishment. Meanwhile, the clerk came and said, “This student’s name was actually in the list of those who passed with first class. We failed to notice it due to oversight.” The boy, who stood firm like a mine of self-confidence, was named Rajendra Prasad, who in the future became the first President of India.
