वचनानि कागदखण्डाः इव एव भवन्ति । एकस्य मुखात् निर्गताः ते अन्येषां मुखानि कथं प्राप्नुवन्ति इत्यस्य अवगमनमेव दुष्करम् । अत एव यस्य विषयस्य पूर्णज्ञानं अस्माकं न स्यात् तस्य विषये असमीचीनं वचनं कदापि न वक्तव्यम् । एतत् सर्वम् इयं कथा निरूपयति । कथं कस्यचन वृद्धस्य असत्यकथनेन युवकस्य कारागारवासः अभवत् । अन्ते कथं सः वृद्धः स्वदोषम् अवगत्य क्षमायाचनां करोति इति शृण्मः ।
(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)
Words are like pieces of paper. Once they leave someone's mouth, it is difficult to know how they reach others. Therefore, if we do not have complete knowledge of a subject, we should never speak wrongly about it. This story illustrates this. In the story, an old man’s false statement led to a young man’s imprisonment. In the end, the old man realizes his mistake and seeks forgiveness.
