कर्मफलं कर्तारम् उपैति

'यथा धेनुसहस्रेषु वत्सो विन्दति मातरम् । तथा पुरा कृतं कर्म कर्तारमनुगच्छति ।। 'प्रियम् अप्रियं वा कर्मफलं कर्तारमेव उपैति' इति वचनं अस्माभिः ज्ञातमेव । शास्त्रकुशलोऽपि कश्चन पण्डितः कथं पापं करोति? यदा कर्मफलं पापपुरुषरूपं धृत्वा पण्डितं ग्रहीतुम् आगतवान् तदा तस्य निवारणाय कम् उपायं करोति ? परन्तु अन्ते कर्मफलस्य भोक्ता स्वयमेव अस्ति इति कथं पण्डितेन विदितम् इति ज्ञातुम् इमां स्वारस्यकरीं कथां शृण्मः ।

Just as a calf finds its mother among a thousand cows, so does the karma of the past find its doer.
