स्वप्ने आगतायाः देव्याः वचनानुसारं मन्दिरनिर्माणकार्यम् आरब्धवान् कश्चित् धनिकः । देव्याः अनुग्रहेण प्राप्तः कश्चन उत्कृष्टः शिल्पी, श्रद्धया भक्त्या च यत् मूर्तिनिर्माणं कृतवान्, तस्याः मूर्तेः मुखे लघु कलङ्कः जातः इति कारणतः पुनः तेन अन्या मूर्तिः निर्मिता । सूक्ष्मदर्शानात् अपि कोSपि कलङ्कः न दृश्यते, किमर्थं नूतना मूर्तिः निर्मिता इति धनिकेन पृष्टे सति, शिल्पी उदतरत् - मनःसाक्षिविरोधार्थं कार्यं कर्तुं न अर्हामि इति । शिल्पिनः कार्यश्रद्धां दृष्ट्वा धनिकः आचर्यान्वितः अभवत् ।

A wealthy man started constructing a temple according to the instructions given by the Goddess, who had appeared in his dream. By the Goddess's grace, he found a skilled sculptor who created an idol with faith and devotion. However, a small defect appeared on the idol’s face, so he made a new one. When the wealthy man asked why he had created a new idol when no defect could be seen even upon close inspection, the sculptor replied, “I cannot perform work against my conscience.” Moved by the sculptor’s dedication, the wealthy man was deeply touched.
