Critics are demanding boxer Imane Khelif is stripped of her Olympic gold medal after a leaked medical report appeared to confirm the female boxing champion is a biological man.
Meanwhile, 16-year-old student athlete AB Hernandez, who is biologically male, tied for first place in the high jump and triple jump at the track-and-field Championships in California.
President Trump’s executive order to ban transgender athletes in women’s sport felt like a full stop on a long and exhausting debate, with a number of major sporting bodies all over the world using the move to announce their own bans. But clearly the work is not yet done.
