Daniel Allen has been a part-time Seattle-area photographer since 2012, and specializes in landscapes and portraits with a focus on the male form (dude-oir). While many photographers cringe at the thought of spending hours editing photos, he finds a lot of personal joy working in post-production, trying to make the most out of every single shot.
This time last year, Daniel was poised for success: he'd formed an LLC for his photography business, set up an online storefront for his work, began planning for booths in local fairs and art shows, and even set up a Square account so he could accept credit cards for payments. For his boudoir work, he was booking clients from as far away as New York. Then COVID hit and everything changed. The company that employed him full-time as a software developer for the past 16 years closed its doors, clients canceled shoots, and his plans for launching his photography business had to be put on hold. Nearly a year later, he is still unemployed and still trying to get his feet under him, anxiously waiting for the day when we can all get back to some semblance of "normal".
