The downward spiral continues as the Phoenix Suns turned in one of their most disappointing performances of the season, a 127-107 loss to the Charlotte Hornets. With the loss, Phoenix falls to 42-35 on the season and has now lost two of three games on its four-game Eastern Conference trip. After scoring 41 points in the opening frame, the Suns managed just 66 points over the final three quarters and their porous defense allowed 127 points on 51.6% field goal shooting. Phoenix was led by 25 points from Jalen Green while Devin Booker scored 22 points but shot 9 of 22 from the field. The Phoenix Suns came up short Tuesday, suffering a close 115-111 loss at the hands of the Orlando Magic. The game marked Dillon Brooks’ first appearance in over a month, and he finished the game with nine points on 4-of-13 shooting in 22 minutes. It was also a rough outing for Jalen Green, who saw just 20 minutes of action and scored eight points on 3-of-10 shooting. As for positives, Devin Booker scored a game-high 34 points, thanks in large part to his 16 makes from the charity stripe. It was not enough to keep up with the Magic’s balanced attack, as four players finished in double figures, led by Desmond Bane’s 21 points. The loss ends Phoenix’s two-game winning streak and it falls to 42-34 on the season. It has a day off before returning to the floor Thursday to face the red-hot Charlotte Hornets. The Phoenix Suns have officially clinched a winning season, moving to 42-33 on the year with a dominant 131-105 win over the Memphis Grizzlies Monday. Memphis put up a fight but Phoenix used a 40-16 fourth quarter to pull away and take care of business. Devin Booker led the way with 36 points on 16-of-24 shooting while Jalen Green added 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field. The Phoenix Suns still have some work to do, but they’ve put themselves in position to be among the field of eight Western Conference teams when the NBA Playoffs begin. Barring any wild finishes to the season, the Phoenix Suns are essentially locked in to the Western Conference Play-In Tournament with nine games remaining in the season. What remains up in the air is the Suns’ seed and their opponent in the game. As it stands, Phoenix’s most likely opponent to begin the postseason will be the LA Clippers or Portland Trail Blazers, with an outside shot at facing the Golden State Warriors in the 7-8 Game. Each of the aforementioned teams has an All-Star on their rosters, with the Clippers and Warriors each boasting an all-time great in Kawhi Leonard and Stephen Curry, respectively. The Phoenix Suns suffered a heartbreaker Tuesday night, falling 123-121 at the hands of the Denver Nuggets. Devin Booker’s potential game-winner fell just short at the buzzer, as a floater from Nikola Jokic was what ultimately put the Nuggets up for good. Booker finished the game with a team-high 22 points but he shot just 5-of-14 from the field. On the other side, Jokic recorded a massive triple-double with 23 points, 17 rebounds and 17 assists. Phoenix enjoyed the returns of Grayson Allen (21 points) and Royce O’Neale (17 points) but their contributions just weren’t quite enough. While it was a tough loss, the Suns showed a few things to be encouraged by throughout the course of the game.
