On January 7, 2020, an alleged high-value drug dealer from Spain, and a surfer residing on the island of Siargao, was killed by authorities at his home amid an illegal drugs operation. The police claimed that they acted in self-defense after the suspect fired gunshots against the agents that were apprehending him. However, his family and friends from Spain suggest that a powerful politician was behind the killing.
Diego Bello Lafuente was only 32-years-old when the police took away his life. He was a soccer player and a surfing enthusiast.
