Matthew 16:13-1713 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” 14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 “But what about you?”he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. Who do you say Jesus is? What does it mean by the Son of God? Jesus is God 1. Jesus the Savior Jesus came to save us Matthew 18:11 “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost” (Matthew 18:11) 2. Jesus the Teacher Jesus came to teach us what God is like. John 14: 6-7 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” 3. Jesus the Lord Jesus came to establish the Lordship over us Matthew 10:34, ""Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn " 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law -a man's enemies will be the members of his own household. 4. Jesus the Champion Jesus came to give us victory. I Corinthians 15:57 "But thanks be to God, who give us the victory through Jesus Christ Who do you say Jesus is?

Matthew 17:24-2724 After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came to Peter and asked, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?” 25 “Yes, he does,” he replied. When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. “What do you think, Simon?” he asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes—from their own sons or from others?” 26 “From others,” Peter answered. “Then the sons are exempt,” Jesus said to him. 27 “But so that we may not offend them, go to the lake and throw out your line. Luke 9: 1-5, 10When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases,2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.3 He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt.4 Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town.5 If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”6 So they set out and went from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing people everywhere… 10 When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. John 4:27-4227 Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”33 Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers. 42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”Sowing the seed of Faith: Gospel Witnessing Revival in Samaria: A revived heart will cause revival in other peoples’ lives.Revival of Jesus 1. Food of Jesus "I have food you know nothing about. My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work." (v. 34). 2. Harvest of Jesus 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Galatians 6:6-106 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.7 Do not be deceived:God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.8 Whoever sows to please their flesh,from the flesh will reap destruction;whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.9 Let us not become weary in doing good,for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do goodto all people, especially to those who belong to the familyof believers. Mark 4:3-203 “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain.8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”9 Then Jesus said,“Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”10 When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables.11 He told them,“The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables12 so that,“‘…they may be ever seeing but never perceiving,and ever hearing but never understanding;otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’” 13 Then Jesus said to them,“Don’t you understand this parable? As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy.17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.18 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word;19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.” "Thrive 2021"Are we thriving in the Lord bearing much fruit in our lives? Galatians 5:22-23 "The fruit of the Spirit is love,joy, peace,patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness and self-control." Examining our hearts: Four Types 1. The Path (v15) 2. John 17:20-23 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” John 17:20-23, NIV "Focus on the Family" Month Family is a covenant community of loyalty and love Unity of Love 1. We must understand our unity “That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us.” SPIRITUAL UNITY Ephesians 4:4-6 "There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." Be faithful in seeking the truth Proverbs 23:23-24 “Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding. The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him." 2. Be faithful in serving the family. set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 3. Be faithful in waiting for the Spirit to work.

Understanding about Family 1. Definition of Family Family is a covenant community of loyalty and love growing together (** put this on the screen when I am discussing biblical definition) 2. Purpose of Family Deut. 6:5-9 says, Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.9 Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates. 3. Hebrews 11:1Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. "Building up the most holy faith" Summary (5 Points) 1) Faith must be built upon the promise of God. 2) Faith must be exercised in the present. 3) Faith must be expressed through life. 4) Faith will be tested in this life. 5) Faith will be rewarded by God.

Philippians 3:10-11I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings,becoming like him in his death,and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. How does the resurrection of Jesus impact our lives? 1. The resurrection power of Jesus gives us the hope of life. 2. The resurrection power of Jesus gives us the peace and boldness that this world cannot give. 3. The resurrection power of Jesus gives us amazing comfort. His resurrection power is available for usEphesians 1:1818 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. How can we experience the conquering power of Resurrection in our daily life?1. Believe: Simple Faith in Jesus “If you believe, you will see the glory of God.” (John 11:40) We must believe in a. His Person: Who He is b. His Power: What He can do c. His Plan (Work): What He is doing now 2. Obey: simple obedience to His word Obedience & Love John 14:15 “If you love me, you will obey my commandments."

John 20:11-1611 but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. 13They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don't know where they have put him.” 14At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. 15“Woman,” he said, “why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” 16Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). I Corinthians 15: 54-56 “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Mark 11:1-11 1As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 3If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’” 4They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, 5some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” 6They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. 7When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. 8Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” 10“Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” “Hosanna in the highest!” 11Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test? (2 Cor 13:5) 1 Cor 2:15 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 2) Faith that exemplifies John 13:15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 1 Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Corinthians 11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. 3) Faith that exclaims Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes 4) Faith that extends 2 Corinthians 10:15Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our area of activity among you will greatly expand, 16 so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. For we do not want to boast about work already done in another man’s territory.

How do we overcome fear? 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. What kind of hope do we have in Christ? 1. Hope of Salvation Romans 10:13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Ephesians 2:8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith Ephesians 1:7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 2. Hope of Transformation 2 Corinthians 3:18And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. Romans 12:2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Philippians 3:21who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. 3. Hope of Restoration Life Restoration 1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eter nal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. Kingdom Restoration Acts 3:21He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.
