Show Notes

The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down the latest news and notes surrounding the USC men's and women's basketball programs, including the men's 60-51 win over Loyola Marymount in their first of two exhibitions.

But first the podcasting duo are joined by sixth-year senior Auburn transfer Chad Baker-Mazara, who talks about how his basketball journey has taken him from the Dominican Republic to New Jersey and Ohio to Pittsburgh, San Diego and Florida before a two-year stint at Auburn and now back to the West in Los Angeles. He discusses how the preseason practices have been going for the Trojans, the big takeaways from USC's exhibition victory and how he's fitting into a new role this season with the Trojans.

Baker-Mazara talks about his relationship with Rodney Rice and the rest of teammates before discussing his recruitment to USC, including a FaceTime with Eric Musselman that had CBM in disbelief and how trash talking Musselman's wife during his time in the SEC actually ended up strengthening the player/coach bond.

After a break, Shotgun and Connor discuss what they saw from the exhibition and what can be gleaned from the action that featured 7-foot-5 Gabe Dynes coming off the bench to score nine points with eight rebounds and six blocks. The podcasters then discuss the Trojans' first two commitments in the 2026 recruiting class, twin forwards Darius and Adonis Ratliff, sons of former NBA All-Star Theo Ratliff, and talk about how viable it is for them to become immediate impact players at USC.
