Although formally trained in both the “Break Free” method by Brad Lamm and the “CRAFT” method by Dr. Robert Meyers, Joe primarily engages in CRAFT which aligns perfectly with what he has believed for a long time…that Recovery is not just for the person struggling with Substance Use Disorder but for the entire family!

Joe has worked in healthcare for nearly 33 years. He started off as a Respiratory Therapist specializing in Emergency room and Intensive Care treatment. After 10 years in the acute care setting, Joe became a Medical Marketing professional selling a number of different medical services and products for 18 years, owning his own medical equipment company for 7 of those years. Four years ago Joe decided to transition into the SUD/Mental Health space of healthcare. A decision born from Joe's sincere desire to help people just like him. Joe recovered from his own battle with drugs and alcohol just over nine years ago.

Since transitioning into SUD/Mental health treatment, Joe has worked as an Outreach Coordinator, Treatment Advocate and most recently as an Interventionist. While working in outreach Joe realized he had a natural ability to connect, not only with his fellow addicts, but also their families and loved ones. Joe states that “When the family is educated on addiction and their loved ones behavior, they become enlightened and empowered. This is when together we can create an impactful and life changing experience and get their afflicted loved one to agree to treatment and a new life!”

Joe professionally trained as an interventionist and launched his new intervention practice, Transcend Interventions in 2021.
