She explains that in general data-driven techniques can help boost agriculture productivity by increasing yields, reducing losses, and cutting down input costs. However, these techniques have seen low adoption because of the high costs of manual data collection and limited connectivity. She says Microsoft FarmBeats can help, as it enables data collection from various sensor types and it leverages recent work in unlicensed TV white spaces.
