Daily Devotions: Keeping Your Prayer Life Flowing - October 18, 2025

1 Timothy 2:8 (NLT) – “In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.”

In this devotion, Pastor Sumrall reminds us that prayer is not a ritual—it’s a relationship. Just like in marriage, where consistency keeps the connection alive, our prayer life thrives when we stay engaged in our relationship with God.

Paul teaches that in every place of worship, we are to lift holy hands to God—hands that show surrender and readiness to receive. It’s the posture of a child reaching up to their father, saying, “Carry me.” That’s what prayer is—dependence and devotion expressed before our Heavenly Father.

But Paul also reminds us to keep our hearts free from anger and controversy when we pray. Anger clouds our spirit, and bitterness blocks our fellowship with God. When we come before Him, we must let go of offenses and lay aside arguments so our hearts can stay tender and open.

So if your prayer life feels like it starts and stops, remember this simple truth: prayer keeps flowing when relationship stays alive. Keep your hands lifted, your heart pure, and your spirit free—then enjoy your time with your Father.
