the mortgage company will typically except payments from anybody who wants to take over the mortgage after a person passes away. However, if nobody pays that mortgage, the bank may very well foreclose. Often times if a child takes over the mortgage, the bank will want to make sure the child agrees to pay that mortgage under the same terms as the parents.
