Ep 6Episode 102: Matt Garlick, Northstar Survival | Beacon of light for those in the storm.

My guest today is Matt Garlick, owner of Northstar Survival in Utah County. IT'S NO SECRET that the world is in a bit of a scary place right now. With the numerous devastating wildfires, increasing numbers of earthquakes and hurricanes wreaking havoc across the world, and the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic on 2020, we are in a time unlike any other. It is clear, now more than ever, that NOW is the time to prepare. Despite the fact that countless people have come to this realization, the number of those who have actually taken measures to prepare is barely noticeable. As we looked deeper into why this is, we noticed a common problem. When it came to preparing for potential disasters and adversity, people just didn't know where to begin. He didn't start this company to simply sell survival kits. He started this company because he's seen the pain, chaos and stress that hit thousands of homes as unexpected disasters and pandemics wreak havoc across the nation, both in a temporal and emotional sense of the word. People need help preparing, and they need it now. Millions of families are so far from being prepared for what is to come, but they deeply desire direction and are in need of guidance. Because we are deeply passionate about helping these families, we built what we call a HUMAN GUIDANCE SYSTEM, which is going to be critical during future times of need. We aren't just selling survival kits. We are building human beings to be physically, mentally and emotionally prepared. #NorthstarSurvival #BePrepared #BeYePrepared #FoodStorage #72HourKits #PeaceOfMind #YeShallNotFear #Prepper #NotAPrepper #DoomsdayPrepper #EndOfTheWorld #NaturalDisasters #Floods #Earthquakes #Fires #Tornados #Hurrincanes #NationInTurmoil #HumanGuidanceSystem #AYearSupply --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/parrishthethought/message

Will he spend eternity in a self-inflicted , or will he abandon his lifelong blindness to see Heaven? Ep 22Episode 95: Paul Burgon, CEO of Vortechs Management | Making recycling so simple even a teenager can do it.

My guest today is the CEO of Vortechs Management based in Layton, Utah, Paul Burgon. He and his team of super smarty smart genius types are revolutionizing and putting the back into the recycling industry by making it so simple, even a teen-ager can do it. I mean, like, who wouldn’t want that. Vortechs Waste to Energy is a startup company that has nine patents pending for a "village scale," hyper-efficient recycling system that can recycle any hydrocarbon--any plastic, used motor oil, shredded tire, coal waste, or the car interior from a recycled car. We recycle where the waste is, rather than shipping hydrocarbon waste hundreds of miles to very large, very expensive facilities (which dramatically increases the carbon footprint). The Vortechs WasteNgine is a village-scale system that can be installed behind a retail distribution center, at an existing landfill, or on any half acre industrial or commercial site. We recycle any hydrocarbon waste profitably, without government subsidies, and without washing, sorting, or shredding waste prior to recycling. vortechsmanagement.com --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/parrishthethought/message

Ep 21Episode 94: Austin Pritchard | From loser to a Lamborghini

My guest today is a young man who, only three short years ago, was depressed, broke, rejected by family and friends. Drudging through dead end jobs, working himself to the bone for a meager $10/hour barely making payments on a Toyota Corolla. Since then he has risen, literally, to the top of the door to door sales industry ending his 2021 season with over a million dollars in sales and over 1200 accounts sold becoming THE number one sales agent in the industry. His reward. At age 23 he was able to pay cash for a Lamborghini Gallardo. He truly is in a league of his own. Please help me in welcoming Austin Pritchard as we take a journey from the dark spaces of the heart and mind to the pinnacle of his existence...at least for now. Ep 20Episode 92: Ghazanfar Ali | Our new refugee neighbors from Afganistan, the Hazara people. The struggle to embrace our new freedom.

My guest today is the Communications Director for the Utah Hazara Association, Ghazanfar Ali. Until I attended a fund raising event one month ago, I too, knew nothing about the Hazara people nor the tremendous struggle they have endured for generations. Hazaras are Dari-speaking people, thought to be of the Turk-Mongol race and live primarily in the rugged central mountainous core of Afghanistan with an area of approximately 50,000 sq. km. They, much like the Jews, have been systematically marginalized, persecuted and brutalized for centuries simply because they exist. For whatever reason, because they want to live normal productive lives, like their neighbors, they are deemed a threat in Afghanistan and neighboring countries like Pakistan. Thousands upon thousands have fled for their lives to neighboring countries and, of course to Utah and other cities in the US. Ghazanfar Ali shares a brief history of his people internationally and how we can help locally as more and more refugees arrive in our community on a weekly basis, especially in the wake of the recent US Troop withdrawl and subsequent mass exodus from Kabul, for a better opportunity. America and Americans are welcoming, loving, generous and kind. If you're a Christian, the Lord said Love thy neighbor as thyself. These wonderful people ARE our neighbors and need our help. Also according to Ali, below are several immediate ways you can help these people have the basic freedoms and necessities to start their new lives here in Utah. Contact the Utah Hazara Association directly. Humanitarian Visas Personally meet them and ask how they are doing and how you can help them. They need help building a community center where the can gather, worship and support one another. Here are some local Utah organizations you can reach out to should you desire to help further. Ep 19Episode 91: Jonathon Dunne - Freedom’s Disciple Podcast Host | Reclaiming America’s Narrative

Back on the show for a third time, Jonathon Dunne is America's favorite Irishman who is passionate about the ideals behind American exceptionalism, and has been blessed with opportunities to reach millions promoting the importance of limited government, individual freedoms, and free markets. He is the host of the Freedom's Disciple podcast on the Blaze Radio Network, written for countless online websites and an inspirational keynote speaker devoted to America‘s founding principles. He arrived stateside September 7th for his 5th American speaking tour. This trip takes him to 15 different states, speaking with over 65 groups in 85 days about “Reclaiming America's Narrative", and explaining exactly WHY America is an exceptional & Unique Nation. If we are going to stop the continued erosion of our God-given rights and restore them, we must understand how America changed the world and helped us take a 5000-year leap forward. It didn't happen by chance, it happened because the pilgrims risked everything to escape a tyrannical king. Then, 156 years later, the founders risked everything to declare America's independence from England and redefine man's relationship with man; and man’s relationship with government Now, 240 years later, America and the world need to be reminded of those founding principles as the relationship between man and government has become extremely imbalanced. #FreedomsDisciple #ReclamingAmericasNarrative #JonathonDunne #ParrishTheThoughtPodcast #AmericanExceptionalism --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/parrishthethought/message

Ep 12Episode 84: Bryan and Kathy Woodcox | Our Covid miracle. The science said I should have been dead but God had other plans.

On May 20, 2021, Bryan Woodcox tested positive for Covid-19. His only symptoms were a fever and body aches. They did a chest X-ray, and it looked completely normal. On May 22, he was having trouble keeping his oxygen saturation levels up, so he went to the ER at 9:30pm. A new X-ray showed that his lungs were “much, much worse.” A Covid Room was found at a different hospital, so he was transported there and admitted at 2:30am. The disease progressed such that in only 24-hours Bryan was unable to breathe on his own. Covid had inflicted extensive damage to his lungs. The medical team told us he had to be intubated, or he would die within the hour. They gave us time to say good-bye, because they did not expect him to ever wake up. We were told he only had a 5% chance of surviving. Bryan said “That’s still a chance.” He told me he was not ready to die, that he was going to fight, and to tell everyone to pray for a miracle. On May 24, 2021, at 4:30am, Bryan was intubated and placed on life support, in a medically-induced coma. We were told if he did survive, he would be on a ventilator for at least a month. After being placed on life-support, Bryan was transferred to U of U Medical Center, so that he could receive more advanced treatments. Our family asked everyone we know to pray for a miracle. Miracles began happening almost immediately. Within 24-hours his lungs had improved so much that his chance of survival went from 5% to 35%. Covid patients typically have good days followed by bad days, but Bryan never had a single bad day. He progressed so quickly that he was off the ventilator after just 5 days, and 5 days after that he came home! Miraculously, he is expected to make a full recovery, and he is well on his way there. This experience has been life-changing, and we are not sure exactly what the future holds for us, but we are so grateful he is alive, and we are ready for whatever God has planned for us. #covid #uofumedicalcenter #jordanvalleymedicalcenter #rewhipped #bryanwoodcox #parrishthethought #parrishpodcast #faithintrial #VaccinesBringUsCloser #prayerworks #miracleshappen #miraclesdohappen #covidvaccine #antivaxx #novaccine #mybodymychoice #chip --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/parrishthethought/message

S1 Ep 8Episode 79: Jennifer Yeo, Broker Presdio Real Estate | Raising the bar in real estate.

My guest today is Jennifer Yeo, principle broker and founder of Presidio Real Estate in 2011. She has 11 offices in the state of Utah and one in Idaho. Years ago, she read a Forbes magazine article that said that the top 3 most untrusted professions were 1. Car Salesman, 2. Lawyers and 3. Realtors. What a shock this was to her as she loved helping others dream of homeownership become a reality. She was at a large brokerage that had a few agents go to prison that year for mortgage fraud. She thought, these are my colleagues? It was disturbing to say the least, and she longed for something better. Somewhere that the "Good Guys" of the industry could thrive. So with a glimmer of hope and a lot of determination, she decided there was never a better time to start a brokerage. It's been her mission to "Raise the bar".

Episode 78: Carlo Barrera | Part 4 of 4 DACA - The dreamers next door. Recent legislative updates...or lack thereof.

One week before the 2020 presidential election, I interviewed Carlo Barrera, a 28-year-old Dreamer, originally brought to the US when he was 6-years old from Queretaro, Mexico. I had him on the show for a couple reasons. 1, I wanted to know more about the Dream Act from a personal perspective and 2, to try and humanize policy. My guest today is Spencer Ivey, a successful entrepreneur and owner of Ivey League Fabrication in Spanish Fork, Utah. His team creates some of the most amazing custom metal artwork, gates, railings and staircases in the state. Strap in for this wild story of trauma, depression, addiction, a failed suicide attempt and a dedicated climb to the success you see today. Shortly after high school he became heavily addicted to heroin and cocaine. After about 3 years of hard living he decided a sereious change was in order. No longer was he going to be controlled by this substance. After 18 months of an outpatient program he was able to get and stay clean. Holding a steady welding job he was able to pay off his past debts, legal fees and court fines. He tried a little college after earning his GED. The best thing he learned was that he was and is capable of doing anything with discipline and determination. He soon realized that business and entrepreneurship was his path. He quit his job, bought a new truck, signed a contract to pay $27K in business consulting then spent his last paycheck on a welding machine. Best investment ever. 5 months later he left college and started what is now Ivey League Fabrication. With nothing to lose, perseverance, and a relentless drive to prove he was not a worthless drug addict, he was able to make $1 million in revenue in the third year business. #iveyleaguefabrication #dontquit #nevergiveup #anythingispossible #ivyleague --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/parrishthethought/message

Ep 1Episode 72: Josh Talyor | The magic of telling and sharing stories

Josh Taylor is a filmmaker, writer, designer, and creative strategist, but at his core he is a Storyteller. When he's not writing a book/screenplay, putting images on film, or working on one of his personal creative endeavors, he helps companies in the midst of pivotal change/transformation moments, discover, craft and share their own stories, through creative content, experiences, and workshops, in order to help their employees and customers build a stronger emotional engagement and human connection to the business, its narrative, and its journey through change. He's also channeling some of his personal curiosity in the form of a new Podcast that he co-created and co-hosts which will release its first season end of Decemeber/early January called the Swell Podcast. The podcast asks three key questions "What does it take to create something that never existed before?" "What does it take to challenge the status quo" and "What does it take to change the world" and it features thought-leaders, world-builders, game-changers, disruptors, and other pleasantly rebellious humans and their stories, journeys, and experiences that shaped them, while they set out to shape the world. We talk about the reasons we tell stories. Ironically this interview became and interview of the interviewer at times. Fun chat.
