AHOOGA!—Misery Guts/Act 2 is set in the peaceful Spoon River Valley during the Great War and rising industrialization. Narrated by 12-year-old Oscar Clyde Olsen, it follows the Olsen family. Oscar admires his banker father, who opposes the Federal Reserve Act, causing outbursts that contrast with his mother's efforts for a peaceful home. The story captures a slice of life in the early 20th century and the clash between tradition and progress.
