On Overeducated and Underemployed, Feddun interviews visual artist, YouTuber, and veterinary/medical illustrator Manda McKay about early influences, childhood art training from her mom, and Veterinary Illustration. McKay explains her education at UGA (scientific illustration) and a master’s in medical illustration at the Medical College of Georgia/Augusta, including cadaver lab, and her first job at Auburn University Vet School. She discusses finding her artistic voice through realism, constraints, and organic/foraged objects, and her book Artistic Alchemy (2013–2025) on Amazon, created during recovery from a cardiac ablation. She describes trauma-processing themes (FGM, escaping a kidnapping attempt) and previews her “feral feminism” field guide project.
