We are back! After a turkey season long break, we are back with another episode. We found it only fitting to get back in the studio and record with a Mississippi company that is on fire right now. We caught up with Jared Lewis with Apex Ammunition. Apex is one of the fastest growing ammunition companies out there and Jared explains of where the company came from and how they got started. TSS... a game changer in the ammo world. Whether you are waterfowl hunting or turkey hunting, it has become something that many has found to be DEADLY! With the much anticipated 2021 turkey season quickly approaching, we found it only fitting to sit down with the MDWFP Wild Turkey Program Coordinator, Mr. Adam Butler and discuss turkeys and turkey hunting here in Mississippi. It’s always fun and informational to sit down with someone that has the knowledge and passion about turkeys that man like Adam has. We cover several different topics that commonly come up in conversation about turkey hunting in Mississippi. We talk about the population and what it looks like today compared to years past, tagging of turkeys, research abilities, property management, and much more along the conversation. This episode features probably our youngest guest we have ever had on the show. David Nichols and his son Will, they are NXT Generation Outdoors. As they put it on their Instagram page, for NXT Generation Outdoors, it’s God 1st, family second, then “The Outdoors”. This family is passionate about the outdoors. Listen as David explains how NXT Generation Outdoors came about. We then get Will to share some duck calling tips with us. We catch back up with our buddy Jeff Nunnery. This time we are catching up to discuss Team Brake now that we have ended another deer season. This deer season was an awesome year for all the handlers that’s part of Team Brake Down. They right at doubled the amount of recoveries for the 2020-2021 deer season than they had for the 2019-2020 deer season. Jeff discusses some of the training techniques they use when they start their dogs that we found quite interesting. He shares some great stories from some tracks they took this season as well. When somebody gets introduced to waterfowl hunting, usually one of two things happen. They either take to it and it becomes a way of life for them or it’s something that they just aren’t cut out for. Ryan may have grown up hunting and doing a some waterfowling through his younger days but one hunt in particular might’ve just changed his life and pointed him in an entire different direction. It was very interesting to hear Ryan’s story and how he became to be “Ryan Off The Grid” that he’s known to be on social media. The Marine combat vet takes us down the road of how things developed into what they are today for him. You don’t want to miss this episode of Outdoor Country Talk!

The title of the episode is just that. Jacob and Jeremy just sit down to recap some of this duck season and do some catching up. This season flew by. It had some ups and a bunch of lows but it’s still something that you love to do. This season was pretty much summed up in Jeremy’s comment in this episode of “if you get mad over just killing two wood ducks, you might as well stay home...” Meanwhile during the slow season, Jacob takes off to Texas to shoot some pigs...with a bow...lots of pigs with a bow. From playing football for Mississippi State University to having a fishing guide service, Captain Stu Scheer has some stories to tell. While you may think we just talk about fishing for the entire episode, with this guest, that’s NOT the case. Stu is quite the character to say the least and his stories that he has to tell from his football days in the late 60s while in Starkville are some to hear. If you listened to Part 1, you know that Mr. Kim has no problem telling a good story and is passionate about what he does. This week Jacob catches up with Mr. Kim Shira, the owner/operator of “Show Me Birds” in Kansas. “Show Me Birds” is known as America’s largest pheasant hunting resort. We catch back up with our buddy, Jimmy Barton. We caught back up with him because these days, well I guess you could say he’s walking in some different shoes than he was on our last visit. You probably remember him as being a NWTF Regional Director. Those days came to an end for him and he talks a little bit about that but, things only got busier and more exciting from there. Today we are joined with a great guest, Mrs. Mary Linker. If you have seen her on social media, you'd refer to her as "Linking The Chase". Mary has a unique story of how she got into hunting a little later in life. She has a great story of her early days hunting whitetail deer with her husband. Mary had an outlook that some of us may not have had in our early days of whitetail deer hunting. Jacob got to catch up with a local guy that is known for his unique to this day in time hunting style. Travis Murray takes his deer hunting seriously. So serious that he’s reverts back to some old days of hunting style. When is the last time you sneaked a deer in his bedding area in a ghillie suit and shot him with a recurve bow? If you’re like most of us, the answer is NEVER. That’s just an every day hunt for Travis though. If you remember back a few episodes ago, Jacob and Jeremy visited together to just catch up after a couple hunting trips. Jacob had traveled up to Utah to duck hunt. While there, he was guided by Captain Rod. We discussed briefly about Captain Rod's setup on that episode so we only found it fitting to have Captain Rod on for his own episode and hear it straight from the Captain himself. This week’s episode gets us into the much anticipated 2020-2021 waterfowl season here in the south. The anticipation of visiting with our guests this week has been just as much. We have been trying to catch up with Carlee Jo for almost a year now but if you follow her on social media, you can understand how busy she is catching fish, hunting deer, hunting ducks, or hunting turkeys. Since the weather just so happened to had went from COLD to HOT on us (even though it feels like winter right now) when we were getting ready to record this episode, we decided to take a warm weather topic for this one. This week we catch up with Captain Austin Pons. Austin and his wife, Michelle, own and operate “No Pressure Fishing Charters” out of Port Orange, FL. Austin takes us back to beginning on how they got into fishing and how me became the owner and operator of a fishing charter business. Of course we get into what the main species of fish are for them and what someone can expect when they book a trip with “No Pressure Fishing Charters”.

On this episode, it’s just Jacob & Jeremy as the guest this week had to reschedule but we thought that with all that’s been going on, there’s plenty to catch up on. Jacob recently took a duck hunting trip up to Utah. We recap that trip with him and some other adventures that the Outdoor Country crew has been on.

We catch back up with Mr. Anthony Ballard for this episode. We aren’t talking about a retrieving Blue Heeler dog today though, we are talking about another exciting topic most of us have to deal with...HOGS. Anthony is the Nuisance Species Program Biologist for MDWFP. That means, Anthony is out state expert when it comes to the nuisances we commonly refer to as hogs.
