This fits perfectly with an exploration into the topics of theology, philosophy, writing, and education among others. Our focus is on these aspects in the time of the middle ages through the Reformation. Welcome to Season 2 of Our Foundations. This episode serves as a general introduction to the ideas and structure of Season 2. This is a case study of three different alternative options for various stages of education. Sudbury schools offer a physical school that is structured around self directed learning and student leadership. The Ron Paul Homeschooling Curriculum is a fairly structured, mostly online option for homeschoolers who want a system to follow but still want to be home based, self directed, and promote critical thinking. Praxis is a college alternative that offers a fairly quick and cheap way to go from high school or any other stage in life into a promising career through education, project learning, apprenticeship, and more. Are modern governments an efficient and effective way to manage a society? Are they even incentivised to manage society well, for the benefit of all, and with a long term vision? In order to really look into political structures, we need to asses government as a system. There are certain things that exist in all modern governments that we can look at to help assess "government" on a macro level. These include taxation, rights to freedom or slavery, property rights, fiat money, and war/ defense. For the final episode in this series on agorism, I highlight some agorist communities. These groups of people have focused on taking care of themselves without reliance or involvement with the State. The first example is historical with the Taborites, an early reformist group from the 1400s. This leads into other groups that spawned out of the reformation, mainly the anabaptists, including the Menonites, Amish, and Bruderhofs. After this, we take a trip to Mexico and look at how some communities have set up whole market and monetary systems that are local and independent of the State. For another Mexican example, Cheran is a town that kicked out the cartels and the government and opted for self rule. The final community in focus will be Rojava, or The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
