Three airmen from MacDill Air Force Bases ninety-ninth Air Refueling Squadron lost their lives in a KC-one thirty-five Stratotanker crash during Operation Epic Fury. The base expressed deep sorrow, and search and rescue efforts confirmed six total airmen lost. Among them were Major John Alex Klinner, Captain Ariana G Savino, and Technical Sergeant Ashley B Pruitt from the sixth Air Refueling Wing at MacDill, and Captain Seth R Koval, Captain Curtis J Angst, and Technical Sergeant Tyler H Simmons from the one twenty-first Air Refueling Wing at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base. The wing commander shared heavy hearts over the loss, and counseling services are now available at MacDill for those affected. The crash circumstances are under investigation.
