Tragic Drowning in St. Johns River: A 22-year-old man, Samuel Oche, lost his life while snorkeling in the St. Johns River near French Landing in Orange City. Despite valiant efforts by his girlfriend and bystanders, the strong currents pulled him away. Multiple rescue teams, including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Air One, were deployed. His body was recovered by the Volusia Sheriffs Office dive team around eight p.m.
