Show Notes
Floridas immigrant detention centers, Alligator Alcatraz and Deportation Depot, have seen their budgets skyrocket from initial estimates of $245 million to over $1.7 billion by mid-2027. The centers, opened in July and September respectively, have already cost taxpayers $807 million for Alligator Alcatraz and $294 million for Deportation Depot. Despite requests for federal reimbursements, FEMA has denied grants due to massive amounts and missing environmental reviews, leaving the state to pay out of pocket.
