Show Notes
Volusia County Deputy Jose Rivera, a U.S. Army veteran and father of three, was shot during a vandalism call on March 2nd. Rivera, who joined the sheriffs office in 2023, was hit by a bullet that ricocheted off his body-worn camera, likely saving his life. The suspect, Luis Diaz Polanco, fired twelve rounds at Rivera and his partner before running out of ammo. Rivera is expected to leave the hospital at 11 a.m. and will visit Deltonas Dewey Boster Park at 11:30 a.m. for a heros welcome. Polanco, who admitted to intentionally shooting at the deputies, faces charges with no bond at the county jail.
