Cathedral Foundation for Music and the Arts teaches the island's young people choral singing to a very high standard, funds the training of an Organ Scholar each year, and provides all sacred music at the Cathedral as a gift to our Island community - amongst many other things! Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch has been at the forefront of marine mammal science on the Isle of Man since 2006. They work year round to ensure the safeguarding of whales, dolphins and porpoises (cetaceans), as well as basking sharks, through non-invasive research and public engagement. Craig's Heartstrong Foundation was originally set up by the Lunt family in memory of their 25 year old son, Craig, who died in April 2005 from a previously undiagnosed heart defect. As a result of the annual screenings they run with Cardiac Risk in the Young and the 600 defibrillators they have funded around the Island, they have saved hundreds of lives. Beach Buddies is an award winning, globally recognised charity which has been cleaning up our Island - and communities as far away as Hong Kong - for 20 years. Founder Bill Dale was even awarded the British Empire Medal in 2017 for his work protecting the marine environment. Christy DeHaven chats with Bill to find out more about the incredible journey, which started with a dog walk in Ballaugh and ended up with 22,000 volunteers armed with litter pickers.
