Omaha residents breathe a sigh of relief as two major sinkholes on sixteenth Street and Pacific Street are set to be filled by the end of April and Thursday respectively. The downtown sinkhole, which has caused months of disruption, is expected to be completed soon, much to the relief of locals like Tom Lamme. The Aksarben sinkhole, which appeared suddenly last Tuesday, is also being filled and paved over. City engineer Austin Rowser notes these were unusual situations, and repair costs are still being determined.
