Show Notes
57-year-old Marquis Harrington, of Omaha, faces charges for scamming Nebraska out of $478,177 in childcare subsidies. He allegedly faked billings for his daughters daycare, Our Values Youth and Governing Academy, from 2020 to 2023. Despite signing agreements to stay out of the business, Harrington was caught on camera at the daycare, where he collected $5,000 a month in rent. Parents reported never entering the home, only meeting his daughter outside. The daycare was closed in 2023, and Harrington was arrested in March, with a preliminary hearing set for April. The case exposes flaws in state tracking of childcare funds.
