This week we're talking about the Oklahoma City Zoo with Candice Rennels and, one of the original Okie Geek Cast Members, Chace Harvick. So many great things are going on including the opening of the new Sanctuary Asia, a 6.6 acre, $22M exhibit with a new member. Baby elephant Kai is strutting her stuff at the OKC Zoo. Also, starting next week is Haunt the Zoo which now takes place during the day on the two weekends before Halloween. And how about an adults only Haunt the Zoo on August 26th. This week we're talking about the Oklahoma Book Festival with Honorary Chair Jane Jayroe Gamble, Bill Young with the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and organizer Vicky Moore. The event takes place on October 20th in the OKC Boathouse District from 10am to 5pm and is free. This week we're talking about the 5th annual Extra Life event at Game HQ from October 12th through the 13th. The 24 event raises money for the Children's Hospital Foundation by playing board games and role playing games. We're joined by organizers Amber Hanneken, Matt Cavanaugh and Ashley King. The event begins on Friday the 12th at 8:00pm through Saturday night and include role playing games like D&D, Pathfinder and Starfinder, but also your favorite board game tournaments such as Ticket to Ride and others. This week we're talking with Mike Datallo and Adam Roach from the Oklahoma Board Game Community about TokenCon, Oklahoma's first dedicated board game convention on October 6th and 7th at the Wyndham Garden Hotel on southwest Meridian in Oklahoma City. The two day event costs just $50 dollars to spend 36 hours playing all your favorite table top games and even get to learn some new ones including a select few from this year's GenCon.
