Bob Atha, a Buckeyes legend and Ohio State Universitys versatile athlete, passed away on March 31st at age 65 after a battle with cancer. Known for playing quarterback, kicker, punter, and wide receiver from 1978 to 1981, Atha started as a walk-on under Woody Hayes and became the starting kicker in his senior year, setting a school record with five field goals in one game against Indiana. His leadership and smarts on the field are remembered by the OSU community. After college, Atha played briefly in the NFL and USFL, then built a successful oil business. His legacy lives on through his family and Buckeye history.
